The New Myspace Is Brilliant

MySpace has created a space that should attract anyone who loves music. It combines Spotify, Pandora, Twitter and iTunes in one great place.

I honestly didn’t think a time would come when I would be talking about an impproved MySpace.

I spent a couple hours surfing the new remade social site, and I was so impressed, I updated my MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and even thought about taking a screenshot to pin it.

MySpace has created a space that should attract anyone who loves music. It combines Spotify, Pandora, Twitter and iTunes in one great place. Not only is it rich for discovering music, trends and people, but the design is brilliant.

It starts with the main navigation and music player that dynamically opens your playlist and allows you to move to any location on the site. Your profile sports a website large image as its design, and you navigate to your status updates and updates about your friends by scrolling horizontally instead of the traditional vertical direction.

I have spent much of the last 24 hours exploring new music, and I was highly impressed. Anyone who listens to Pandora or Spotify on PC may find it easier to listen and discover through MySpace. It’s very simple to find new music, create mixes and have Myspace select new music for you through the radio feature that is very much like Pandora. When looking at companies that have had to make a comeback, Myspace might have a chance to really impress the masses.

You do need to know that if you had a Myspace in the past, and you log into the new Myspace, you will start with 0 connections, so all your old friends are gone. If you haven’t checked it out, then it’s definitely worth your time.

Congrats to Myspace for the comeback!

I have been following the rebranding with the new ownership of the site. As a IT professional and somone who had a concentration of Marketing while working on my MBA, I found it to be an excellent case study. They are making a lot of really intelligent business moves to rebrand MySpace, and the real question will be the consumer confidence in the Brand Name. They finished their FTC issues, It sounds like the portal that at least Mr. Timberlake has been suggesting it would like to become. The question is wiether their brand is going to be trusted by the basic consumer.

Michael - I agree with you. I have already had negative comments after endorsing the good work. They have done a great job at reinventing who they are and what they want in the social space. I believe if they create an app that allows access to the playlist, radio tools and discover music tools, they will create serious competition for Pandora and Spotify. Thanks for the comment!

Mark, this simply makes absolutely no sense at all. Matter of fact, It's 'safer' to back into a spotRead More than pulling forward. Mark, prior to backing in a spot, you already have a full visual of in front of you. Then, as you go to leave,. it's much safer to pull out, than to back out. Mark, you have this wrong pal and I'd love to see the data which lead you to believe that it's dangerous to back into a spot, versus pulling into it. I'm going to challenge you on this one Mark, and will do so when I go to court when I purposely get a ticket.

Does the convenience of reading a license plate supersede the safety of backing in and then headingRead More out?

Maybe not. I agree on the safety issue. The question needs to be, does the need of the police to beRead More able to read the plates supersede the safety concern? To be sure, there will be the usual crowd complaining about government (any government) intrusion, yada, yada, but that's the point that needs to be settled. If the police would agree that seeing the plates isn't necessary, then the entire issue would go away.

No matter the way or the time, what will be will be.Read More It's not about blaming or getting "justice", death always happens when it is meant to...there are no accidents, only the circumstances and means that come into play to assist the transition of those who are leaving this world, in order for them to reach the next.
