Stacie Mason has been promoted to Human Resources Director by City Manager Tom Barwin. She has served as the Interim Human Resources Director for the past six months.
“Stacie has performed exceptionally well as the Interim Human Resources Director,” City Manager Tom Barwin said. “Her attention to detail has served us well as we continue to assemble and maintain a strong team of employees. It’s healthy for an organization when you have a good, qualified candidate who can be promoted from within.”
Ms. Mason recently played a key role in facilitating the recent hiring of the City’s Chief of Police Finance Director and Utilities Director.

Ms. Mason has worked for the City of Sarasota for ten years. She is in involved with the employment of the City’s 700 employees, including overseeing benefit management for all active employees and retirees. Ms. Mason also has assisted with Teamster negotiations, facilitated the opening of an employee health center to help lower medical costs for the City and has managed the City’s self-insurance funds for medical, workers’ compensation and liability.
This is the fourth major department head position Mr. Barwin has filled since starting work as City Manager eleven months ago. He also appointed the Chief of Police, Finance Director and Utilities Director.
