Dick Hyman and Ken Peplowski at the Players Theatre

The 2014
Sarasota Jazz Festival closes out in grand style with a performance by these
two giants of jazz in a concert dedicated to the memory of Jerry Roucher, who
passed away in October 2013, Saturday, March 1, 7:30 p.m., at the Players
Theatre, 838 N. Tamiami Trail. Dick Hyman has been a composer, arranger and
musical director for television, theater and movies and has written the scores
of a dozen Woody Allen movies. This great artist teams up with clarinetist and
saxophonist extraordinaire Ken Peplowski, whose playing was hailed as
"magic" by none other than the later Mel Tormé. Peplowski will be
presented with this year's Satchmo award for his outstanding contributions to
jazz at this concert. Tickets are $40 general admission; $35 club members; $45
for VIP seating; $5 for students with ID, and are available at The Players' box
office: 941-365-2494, or online at www.theplayers.org. For updates, group
