“For the Love of Art” Exhibit

For the Love of Art is an exhibition comprised of four of the 2010 Florida Division of Cultural Affairs Individual Artist Fellowship Recipients. The artists were chosen to receive this award based on the artistic and cultural merits of their artwork, and Art Center Sarasota has chosen to highlight these artists in a specially curated exhibition. The four artists selected for this show are Babs Reingold, Anja Marais, Carrie Ann Baade, and Nan Smith. These artists, all women, produce artwork of varying media: ceramic, painting, installation, drawing, and performance. Much of the work included in this exhibit contemplates the notion of women and what it means to be one. Some of the themes touched upon include personal identity, home life, memory and family, and the role that women have played in religious mythology. Exhibition runs from December 20, 2012 through February 17, 2013
