Plug-in electric vehicles present a critical opportunity to slash pollution,
create American jobs, and reduce oil dependence. From cradle to grave,
electric vehicles are the cleanest cars on the road. The anticipated
growth in EVs creates a need to prepare communities and regional corridors for growing EV use including infrastructure and education. The grassroots effort of the Suncoast Electric Vehicle Collaborative has brought together a diverse group of stakeholders to help facilitate the Electric Vehicle Revolution.

Britten Cleveland
is a native Floridian and grew up in Sarasota. She attended the
University of South Florida St. Petersburg where she received a Bachelorof Science in Environmental Science and Policy with a minor in Political Science. While in college, she worked for the Alliance for Climate Protection’s Repower America campaign building public and government support for federal clean energy and climate change legislation in 2010. After graduation, she began working for the Sierra Club as Conservation Organizer for the Beyond Oil campaign to promote local transportation alternatives, particularly zero emission electric vehicles. Britten currently lives in St. Petersburg and works out of the Sierra Club's 100% Net Zero office building.
Chris Sharek
is also a proud native Floridian, born at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama
City. After growing up primarily on the East Coast of Florida in Satellite Beach, he attended the University of Central Florida in Orlando obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering in 1996 and Master of Science in Water Resource Engineering in 1998. Immediately upon graduation, he moved to Sarasota. As a private consultant, Chris designed water and wastewater systems for municipalities in Southwest Florida. In 2001, he moved to the public sector holding positions of Assistant City Engineer, Assistant Utilities Director, and Utilities Manager for a small municipality. He became a licensed Professional Engineer in 2002 and returned to private consulting in 2007. He obtained his accreditation from the American Academy of Environmental Engineers as a Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE) and his Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification through the International Project Management Institute. Chris lives in Sarasota with wife, 10-year old son, Zach, and 3 dogs.
