Because Size Does Matter - Humane Society Focuses on Getting Larger Dogs Adopted

Big dogs are often the last to be adopted from shelters.  We've learned that these dogs often face doggy discrimination. Here at the Humane Society of Sarasota County, we’d like to think all pets up for adoption have an equal chance for a new home, but it turns out they don’t. Days can turn into weeks and sometimes months for large dogs.  Because of this, we are turning the spotlight on these dogs to help them find the furever homes they so deserve!

You can help end doggy discrimination! During the month of August, adopt a dog over 50 pounds for just $50! To view these and other pets ready for adoption, please visit www.hssc.org.

The Humane Society of Sarasota County is the area’s largest no-kill shelter and relies solely on private donations, bequests and community support to continue its mission to provide abandoned pets with compassionate care and shelter while promoting responsible pet ownership and securing permanent homes.
