Humane Society of Sarasota County Announces Casting Call for 2014 Calendar Cover Model

Beginning on September 5th, the Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) is accepting entries for its 2nd Annual “The Real HousePets of Sarasota County” Pet Calendar & Photo Contest.  The photo contest is the purrfect way for dog and cat lovers to show off their pet(s) while raising much-needed funds for shelter pets at HSSC. The winner will be featured on the cover of HSSC’s 2014 calendar and each of the top 12 finalists will be showcased as a pet of the month.

“We introduced this furry fun contest last year and had over 250 animal lovers participate and raised nearly $12,000 for our shelter pets,” said Kristi Dorman, Executive Director of HSSC. “Our goal this year is to highlight even more pets and raise over $15,000!”

To enter the contest, participants must submit their favorite pet photo with a $10 donation to HSSC by going to https://www.360photocontest.com/224.  In order to win prizes and be able to call their pet a cover model, participants should then encourage their friends and family to vote online for their photo.  Votes are just $1 each and the number of votes will determine the winners.  The top 100 pets receiving the most votes will appear on the collage page of the calendar.

The pet photo contest ends on Saturday, October 5th and the winners will be announced by Tuesday, October 8th.  “The Real HousePets of Sarasota County” 2014 Calendar will be available for purchase in November at the Humane Society of Sarasota County.  All proceeds from the contest and calendar sales will benefit the homeless pets at HSSC.

The Humane Society of Sarasota County is the area’s largest no-kill shelter and relies solely on private donations, bequests and community support to continue its mission to provide abandoned pets with compassionate care and shelter while promoting responsible pet ownership and securing permanent homes.
