All of us, at one point or another during our lives, give in to procrastination. We get tired, or hungry, or we simply aren’t in the mood to perform the tasks we know we need to get done, even if they are important. So we put them off for an hour, a day, or a week. We leave them for our “future self” to deal with. In most cases, doing this doesn’t hurt our lives or our work in any way.
There are some people, however, that take a once-in-a-while behavior like procrastination and turn it into a way of life. They put off important tasks and are then forced to accomplish them at the last minute. This leads to job dissatisfaction, anxiety, and a general lack of enthusiasm. In the workplace, employees who make procrastination a regular behavior can also miss out on promotions and face disciplinary actions.
