Does Your Boss Want You Out? How to Deal

In a perfect world, you and your boss would get along every second of every day. Your personalities would be the same, you'd agree on all the issues, and every project you did together would be a success.

In a perfect world, you and your boss would get along every second of every day. Your personalities would be the same, you’d agree on all the issues, and every project you did together would be a success. Unfortunately, the world isn’t perfect, and bosses and employees don’t always see eye-to-eye.

While not every employee needs to be BFFs with their boss in order to ensure a successful career, a rocky relationship can cause problems and put employees’ Orlando jobs in jeopardy.

Does Your Boss Want You to Leave?

The majority of the time, employers who don’t have the best relationship with a certain employee will simply deal with any issues between them and move on. According to a CareerBuilder survey, however, 27 percent of bosses in this situation would rather just have an employee leave. Instead of firing them, however, they avoid the situation, send subtle hints about their unhappiness, or are more direct with their unhappiness toward disfavored employees. Here are the most common ways their disfavor is expressed.

  • Issuing formal warnings
  • Frequently point out the employee’s shortcomings
  • Reducing the employee’s responsibilities
  • Moving the employee to another part of the office
  • Restricting the employee’s access to new developments within the company
  • Communicating with the employee via email or instant messenger rather than in person or on the phone
  • Hiring someone else to eventually take the employee’s job
  • Leaving the employee out of certain projects or meetings
  • Failing to invite the employee to participate in social gatherings that include other employees.
What to do When Your Boss Wants You Out

According to the survey, employers aren’t always upfront about their opinion on whether an employee should stay with Orlando jobs. If you’re sensing a bit of tension, however, and feel as if you are being pushed away, there are some steps you can take before it’s too late.

  • Recommit Yourself- If your boss is constantly on you about your performance, don’t begin looking for a new job. Instead, try to turn the situation around. Improve the quality of your work, keep a healthy and positive attitude, and give 110% every day.
  • Don’t Hold a Grudge- Being pushed out of a job isn’t easy, but if you want to make it work then it is important to stay positive. Holding a grudge will keep you from taking steps forward, and gossiping about the problem will only make the situation worse. Be professional at all times in order to repair the relationship.
  • Talk it Out- If you feel as if your employer is pushing you away, be preemptive and start discussing actions that can be taken to improve the relationship. Make sure you understand what is expected of you each day especially; if your employer isn’t satisfied with job performance, it may be because you are clear on his expectations.
  • Learn When to Say Goodbye- Sometimes relationships simply can’t be repaired, and when this occurs, you need to know when to say goodbye. Be professional when leaving, and make sure to thank them for the opportunity.

Do you feel as if your employer wants you to quit your job? Make sure you do everything you can to repair the relationship and know when it’s time to say goodbye.
