Manasota Operation Troop Support Gears Up for a Busy May

It's a month full of packing parties, basketball, parades and much more.

MOTS' May calendar is busy, busy!

Packing Party For Our Local Deployed Troops, Saturday, May 12 at 9 a.m.  Always a great way to start your weekend! Lakewood Business Park, 4301 32nd St. W., Suite C20, Bradenton, just north of Cortez Road. It will be the best 30 minutes of your Saturday!

King Middle School Annual Basketball Fundraiser for MOTS, Teachers vs. West Manatee Firefighters, May 18, 2 p.m.

A Mini-Grant is posted online at Gulfcoastgives.org to help "Give a Veteran a tank of gas." For some Veterans, the gift of a gas card can be a real hand-up on the ladder they are climbing. Finding their way back into the job market, to school, or to interviews takes a lot of personal effort after a long deployment. A $60 tank of gas is something tangible that we can share with them in their newest struggle after they have given so much for us.

Publix Fundraising Table, 11205 East State Road 70, Bradenton, Saturday, May 19, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Volunteers needed to man the table in front of a Lakewood Ranch Publix on SR 70 as part of the Tribute To Heroes Memorial Parade and celebration being coordinated by the Lakewood Ranch Community Center.  Thank you to all of the LWR businesses welcoming us to this event and collecting food and letters for our troops.  Call Linda at 941-782-0748 to fill a time slot to volunteer or with any questions.

McKechnie Field Military Appreciation Night, May 19 at 6:30 p.m. Marauders Baseball game. MOTS will have a table there for gamegoers to fill out a postcard to a local troop deployed to the Middle East. I do have free tickets for veterans so call me at 782-0748 to claim them! Volunteers are welcome!

Tribute To Heroes Memorial Parade and Celebration at Lakewood Ranch, May 27, will be a great family event. MOTS is decorating a float this year! Let us know if you want to help, Saturday, May 26, at 11. You can also decorate your bike and register it for the parade by going to the Lakewood Ranch Community Center Facebook page.  You could win a prize! A $15 Donation will put your Veteran on our parade poster and help keep care packages going to our local deployed troops in the Middle East. God Bless our Veterans!

A big thank you goes out to all of our Facebook friends who helped out two Veterans this week! I can tell you that your support was so appreciated!
