1. The Sarasota County Criminal Justice Commissioner learned yesterday that the number of drug exposed infants due to. Later in the meeting, the commission approved a recommendation to the county commissioners that would limit the number of pain clinics in Sarasota. 

2.Tuesday evening, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office announced that. Lester Washer has been on the run since 2003 and was working at a golf course in Mexico. 

3. The Sarasota County Commission Tuesday awarded a $2.2 million construction management contract to Halfacre Construction of Company of Sarasota for a new Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) intermodal transfer facility at the intersection of Cattlemen Road and Bahia Vista Street. Construction is scheduled to be completed in November 2011.

4. The 5th Annual Sarasota/Manatee Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Golf Tournament is this Saturday at the Laurel Oak Country Club. Register the day of the event at 7:30am. Breakfast is provided. There will be a Colors Ceremony prior to teeing off. Golf will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30am with a handicapped best ball format. Online registration is available, go to www.mcsf.org click on “attend”. 

5. Two Sarasota County teachers have been selected to participate in the 2011 Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy. This is a one-week, all-expenses-paid, intensive professional development program designed to arm teachers with innovative math and science teaching skills. Jessica Strassner, a fourth-grade teacher at  and Teryn Daysh, a fourth-grade teacher at, are among the 14 teachers from Florida chosen to attend this year’s academy of about 200 teachers from across the U.S.
