UPDATE: Another Convicted Murderer Arrested For Sarasota Shooting

Police investigating a Tuesday attempted murder in north Sarasota have developed a second suspect wanted for the shooting.

Sarasota police investigating Tuesday's shooting have arrested a second suspect, who was also a convicted murderer.

Police named Tyrone Rogers, 37, as a supect for the Lemon Avenue shooting and and charged him Friday night with two counts of attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, just hours after obtaining a warrant.

Rogers is considered a career criminal by police and was convicted of second-degree murder in 1992, according to police.

Suspect Joseph Lamar, also a convicted murderer who was released from jail last year, turned himself in at Sarasota Police Headquarters on Thursday evening after work from the police and community helped convice him to come forward.

The shooting injured a man and a transgendered male, sending both to area hospitals for their injuries.
