UPDATE: Three Arrests Made In Saturday Home Invasion, Robbery

Three suspects invaded home on Palm Terrace and victim fought with one suspect until other two suspects ran away.

All three suspects in a overnight Saturday home invasion and robbery are now under arrest and in Sarasota County Sheriff's Office custody.

Patrol deputies searched the neighborhood and found suspects fitting the description provided by the victim, according to the probable cause affidavits.

The victim told deputies he was sitting outside his home smoking a cigarette when he was approached by three men in dark clothing around 1:30 a.m. Saturday on the 2000 block of Palm Terrace and all three men pointed AirSoft guns at the victim, according to the sheriff's office.

The victim was struck by a butt end of a gun by one suspect while two other suspects ran into the home where two other victims were present, according to the affidavit. No money was stolen—only cell phones.

The victim gave the suspect his cell phone, slapped the gun out of his hand and began fighting with the suspect, and another suspect approached the victim and punched him in the head, according to the affidavit. The fight continued until the suspects fled the home, according to the sheriff's office.

One suspect, Denico Stewart, 20 of 4247 Paota Place, Sarasota, had minor head injuries consistent with the fight the victim described, according to the affidavit. Stewart faces one count of home invasion robbery with a weapon, according to the affidavit.

Anthony Garruto, 21, of 7059 Jarvis Road, Sarasota, also faces the same charge, according to the sheriff's office.

After a confession by Garruto, detectives were in contact with the third suspect, Jarrett Bennett, 21, of 7059 Jarvis Road, who was subsequently charged with home invasion robbery with a weapon, according to the sheriff's office.
