Armed Robbery, Carjacking and Vehicle Pursuit End in Arrest

Two men have been arrested and charged with armed robbery after they allegedly robbed a man at gun point and lead Sarasota police officers on a two county chase.

Elroy Johnson, 19, Jermaine Conaway, 18, were charged and transported to the Port in Manatee County after they led officers on a chase a flipped an Acura they had carjacked in Manatee County.

At approximately 3:15 a.m. Sunday, Sarasota police officers in the area of 24th Street and Pershing Avenue, in Sarasota, were flagged down by a man who told them he had been robbed by two men, according to the report.

The man provided the officers with a description of the suspects and the vehicle they fled the scene in by the victim, a report said.

Officers  attempted to pull over a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect on 301, but the vehicle fled and a pursuit proceeded northbound on US 301 into Manatee County ensued, the report said.

After briefly losing sight of the vehicle, officers saw the vehicle in a ditch on 63rd Avenue East in Manatee County.

A single barrel shotgun was recovered at 24th Street and Pershing Avenue. The Acura was stolen during a carjacking in Manatee County. Other charges are pending.
