Beneva Road Hit-And-Run Crash Injures Four

An unknown car struck a Toyota Avalon after failing to stop at a stop sing on Beneva Lane at Beneva Road.

Florida Highway Patrol are asking for witnesses to a hit-and-run crash Sunday evening to help identify the car that caused injuries to four people.

Highway Patrol responded to Beneva Road and Beneva Lane at 6:57 p.m. Sunday when an unknown type of car traveled eastbound on Beneva Lane and struck a Toyota Avalon headed southbound on Beneva Road.

The unknown car failed to stop at the stop sign and drove onto Beneva Road striking the right side of the Avalon, and the driver left the scene folloing the impact, according to Highway Patrol.

Four people were sent to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for minor injuries:

  • Leo Katz, 80 of Sarasota, the driver
  • Shirley Katz, 76 of Sarasota
  • Herald Sykes, 90 of Sarasota
  • Marlene Sykes, 76 of Sarasota

Anyone who witnessed the crash or knows the identity and location of the driver and involved car should call Trooper N. Langston at Florida Highway Patrol at 941-492-5850.
