Bradenton Man Charged with Raping 6-Year-Old

A 36-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly raping a six year old in Sarasota last month.

Glenn David Rausch Jr., 36, 3200 block of 58th Terrace East, Bradenton, is charged with sexual battery on a child under 12 after he reportedly molested a 6-year-old girl while she slept over at a family friend’s house, on the 3400 block of Alamo Lane in Sarasota.

According to the report, the girl’s parents were going through a separation and her mother had taken the children to stay with a friend. On the night of August 15, the mother had left the children with the friend and spent the night at her grandmothers, the report said.

Rausch was one of four people that spent the night that evening after hanging out at the house, a report said. Three of the people said Rausch regularly spends the night at the home, but usually sleeps in one of the bedrooms. However, on this particular night he instead slept in the living room with the children, the report said. The other guests said that struck them as "odd."

The next morning the child told her mother’s friend that Rausch had woken her up as she slept on the couch and pulled up her dress saying he needed to “check her for a rash.”

Rausch left the house around 6:30 a.m. Aug. 16, before the others woke up, he told authorities that his father picked him up for work.

The girl was taken to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center and underwent an examination where a physician found evidence consistent with her story.

Rausch was taken to the Sarasota County Jail where he is being held on no bond.
