Deputies Pursue 14-year-old in Stolen Car

The pursuit went for two blocks after deputies tried to stop the car because it was missing a tire and driving on the rim.

Deputies arrested a 14-year-old on grand theft auto charges this morning after noticing that the car was missing a tire and the driver was riding on the rim.

The teenager took deputies on a two block pursuit near Whitfield Avenue and Westmoreland Drive before he drove over a curb and got stuck in a yard. The pursut began when deputies attempted to stop the driver and the car briefly sped up and ran a stop sign, then misjudged a turn and ran over a curb into a yard.

Deputies discovered that the white sedan was stolen earlier that night in Sarasota and that it belonged to Emmalina Cater, 25.

The teenage driver was arrested, while a passenger in the car was detained.
