Drugs, Gun Found in Felon's Mobile Home, Sarasota Police Say

Tory James was arrested after investigators said they made the discoveries while executing a search warrant at his home.

Investigators found drugs, a handgun and ammunition while executing a search warrant at the mobile home of a Sarasota convicted felon, officials said Friday.

The Sarasota Police Department's Narcotics Unit and Street Crimes Unit converged on the home at 2420 N. Osprey Ave. after Tory L. James, 31, arrived there around 3 p.m. Thursday.

Inside, they found 16 grams of marijuana, 7 grams of "molly" (MDMA), a .22 caliber handgun and several rounds of ammunition, according to police.

James was arrested and charged with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a daycare, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended (habitual traffic offender) and maintaining a dwelling for purpose of illegal activity.
