Two people are recovering from injuries from an aggravated battery that took place in the Shell gas station parking lot across from Sarasota Memorial Hospital Sunday night.
Sarasota Police arrived at the Shell/Circle K, 1801 S. Tamiami Trail, at 6:20 p.m. where a 43-year-old man was injured and sent to Sarasota Memorial for his injuries, and a 41-year-old woman who attempted to help the man was flown to Blake Medical Center for her injuries, police said. The helicopter was forced to land at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport due to weather conditions and the woman was transported to Blake via ambulance for the remainder of the trip.
SNN Local News reported on air that the woman was pregnant and the suspect is believed to be intoxicated.
Police are looking for the suspect, described as a white man believed to be 25-30 years old, six feet two inches tall, 200 pounds with a shaved head.
The man left the gas station in a white four-door sedan with a possible partial Florida tag that includes H12FS, according to police. The driver of the car was described as a "heavy set white female," police said.
No other details are available yet for what started the confrontation.
Anyone with additional information about the battery and the suspect is asked to contact Detective Laster at 941-954-7070.
