Man Shot In Leg In South Sarasota

A home invasion on New England Street in Sarasota ended with a shooting when a man tried to disarm one of the suspects.

A shooting and home invasion on the 3300 block of New England Street Friday night has the asking the public to help identify the suspects.

The sheriff's office received a call at 10:06 p.m. Friday when a 17-year-old black male with a slight goatee and a 20-year-old tall black male entered the home after telling the victim on the phone they wanted to "hang out" and then demanded money from everyone in the home when they arrived, according to the sheriff's office.

One suspect pointed a handgun at the victim, and during the altercation the victim's father entered the room and tried to disarm the suspect and the father was shot in the leg, according to the sheriff's office.  

Both suspects fled the house running eastbound on New England Street toward a black SUV parked two houses down, according to the sheriff's office.

The father who was shot during the incident was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, treated and released.

Why did they let them in the house if they didnt know them? They called on the phone 1st??? Sounds very suspicious
