Mom Passed Out On Drugs Charged With Child Neglect

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office found a 23-month-old baby crying without a diaper on alone in the backseat of a car while the mom passed out in the home on drugs.

A Tennessee woman is in jail today aftering being arrested for child neglect when sheriff's deputies found she left her child alone in a car while she was passed out on drugs Saturday.

Sarasota County Sheriff's deputies responded to 4636 Garcia Ave. in Sarasota at 1 a.m. Saturday for an unrelated incident where  they found a 23-month-old baby in the backseat of a car crying, alone, without a diaper on, according to the sheriff's office.

The mother, Jennifer Keiper, 31 of Brighton, Tennessee, went into the home three hours earlier, took drugs and passed out leaving the baby unsupervised, according to the sheriff's office's investigation.

Keiper is charged with one count of child neglect, and no bond amount was available.

The Florida Department of Children and Families responded and took custody of the child, according to the sheriff's office.
