North Sarasota Man Arrested Again For Drug Charges

Sarasota Police also seized four grams of rock cocaine during another drug bust on Friday.

A north Sarasota man arrested on felony drug charges in September was arrested again on more drug charges on Friday. 

Sarasota Police Department arrested and charged Roland Smith, 39, of 2021 30th St., for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on Friday after a search warrant was executed at his home.  

Smith is out on bond for charges from Sept. 9 when he was charged for drug trafficking and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, according to Sarasota Police.

Police also executed a search warrant on Friday at 2813 Pershing Ave., where Alphonso Derosier, 21, of 1608 36th St., was arrested and charged for possession of rock cocaine with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a church. Four grams of rock cocaine was seized during the arrest, according to police. 

Police said the investigations were prompted by community concerns and citizen complaints and encourage people to report suspicious drug and prostitution activity by calling 941-954-7050. Callers can remain anonymous.
