UPDATE: Teen Arrested For Allegedly Stabbing Osprey Man in Back

A teenager has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a 22-year-old man in the back during a brawl early Sunday, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE: A Venice teenager was arrested Thursday in connection with the stabbing incident at a party in Osprey that occurred early Sunday morning.

Jake McCauley, 18, 2500 Dawn Rd., Venice, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after the victim and several witnesses told authorities he had stabbed Paul Damiano, 22, in the back during a brawl. 

Deputies responded to the 500 block of Sarabay Drive at about 12:20 a.m., in response to reports of a large party and a fight between several subjects. Upon arrival they found Damiano had been stabbed in the back. He was airlifted to Blake Medical Center for emergency trauma care, and medical staff advised detectives that Damiano’s injury could have been life threatening or left him paralyzed, but he has recovered and was discharged from the hospital.

ORIGINAL: SCSO deputies responded to 500 Sara Bay Drive in Osprey around 12:30 a.m. in reference to a fight, according to a report.

When they arrived, they found the 22-year-old Paul Damiano sitting in his vehicle; he had suffered a stab wound to the back, the report said.

Damiano was airlifted to Blake Medical Center where it was determined that his injuries were not life threatening, the report states.
