Police: Sarasota Man Steals Thousands from Grandmother
Sarasota Police say the 22-year-old man charged nearly $12,000 to his grandmother's debit and credit cards.
Peter Mohr, 22, of Jolson Drive, Sarasota, was arrested and now faces several felony charges after he made 166 fraudulent transactions totaling $11,651.33, according to a Sarasota Police Department's media release.
The 83-year-old victim reported the illegal use of her cards to officials in June, police say. The victim told detectives that her grandson and his girlfriend used the cards, according to the release.
Mohr has been charged with felony exploitation of the elderly, felony fraudulent use of a credit card and felony criminal use of personal identification, police say.
According to officials, more charges are pending and the actual amount of total loss is expected to go up.
Currently, Mohr's girlfriend has not been arrested but charges are pending one count of fraudulent use of a credit card, four counts of criminal use of personal identification, four counts of dealing in stolen property and four counts of defrauding a pawnbroker/second hand dealer, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
