Sarasota Man Considered Missing, Endangered

Newton Humprey Whidden, 85, of Sarasota suffers dementia and may be driving a white Dodge Caravan.

An 85-year-old man suffering dementia is considered missing and endangered, and the hopes you can help locate him.

Newton Humprey Whidden was last seen on the 4800 block of 10th Street in Sarasota at 6:57 p.m. Tuesday, according to the sheriff's office. 

Whidden is a white man, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 130 pounds, has gray hair, hazel eyes, and possibly wearing a long-sleeve plaid shirt and brown or gold pants.

Whidden is driving a white 2000 Dodge Caravan Tiara, with Florida tag A183XI, according to the sheriff's office. 

His last contact was calling a friend on the phone around 10 p.m. Monday, according to the sheriff's office. His phone was later found at the Siesta Key Pharmacy.

The sheriff's office said it's possible that Whidden may visit a cemetery near Horse Creek in Desoto County.
