UPDATE: Murder Charge Filed After Man Found Bleeding In Roadway

Sarasota Police are investigating the case as a possible homicide.

Sarasota Police have charged a 29-year-old man with second degree murder after police found a man bleeding in the roadway from a stabbing Wednesday night.

Police responded at 7 p.m. for a report of an unconscious man in the 1500 North Orange Avenue, and the 28-year-old died from his injuries after emergency medical personnel attempted to treat the injuries, according to police.  Police identified the man as Jesus A. Espinosa, of 1500 N. Orange. 

The victim was stabbed and went into cardiac arrest while being treated, MySuncoast.com reports.

Police initially contacted the person of interest, Mauro Morale, by phone while the man was driving north into Hillsborough County, 29, and persuaded the man to stop the car, provide officers with location until authorities could arrive, according to police.

The person of interest is believed to be an acquaintance of the victim, who was a resident at the mobile home park on Orange Avenue, MySuncoast.com reports.

Morale is also known as Mauro Morales-Abad and remains in custody in Hillsborough County Jail, according to police.
