Sarasota Sheriff's Officials Nab 45 Suspected DUI Drivers in December

The agency released Thursday results from December's saturation patrols and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.

The following is a news release from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office: 


The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office conducts monthly saturation patrols to remove dangerous, uninsured or impaired drivers from local roadways to keep motorists safe.

Because of our commitment to keep the public aware of these ongoing education and enforcement efforts, results are provided at the end of each month and dates for the next month’s activity are announced.

In December, saturation patrols resulted in 19 DUI arrests and 216 citations for other traffic offenses.

In addition, the agency participated in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” holiday campaign from December 14 to January 1, which resulted in an additional 26 DUI arrests, 39 seatbelt citations, 70 suspended license citations, 193 citations for not having proof of insurance, 109 speeding citations, 30 citations for reckless driving and three child seatbelt citations.

In January, saturation patrols will be conducted on the 4th, 11th, 18th, 19th and 25th.

This initiative is conducted in partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and supported through a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation.
