September Saturation Patrol Results

Every month, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office conducts saturation patrols to remove impaired drivers from local roadways to keep motorists safe.

In September, deputies conducted saturation patrols on eight different days, including over the Labor Day holiday, resulting in 27 DUI arrests and 383 traffic citations for other offenses.

It is important to note that these numbers are for the saturation patrols only and do not include DUI arrests made during the month outside of these specific initiatives.

Saturation patrols are conducted instead of what is referred to as a “DUI Checkpoint” and includes a number of Patrol and Traffic deputies working targeted zones at the same time to monitor driving activity. Because of their design saturation patrols are mobile and take place in different areas of the county.
