UPDATE: Roads in Sarasota Closed Due to Flooding Are Now Open

Sarasota police officers have opened the roads that were closed due to flooding earlier today.

Sixth Street at the intersection of U.S. 301 has been closed in both the north and south directions.  The circle around St. Armands Circle is under water and officers are directing traffic away from the circle.

Areas officers are monitoring also include 6th Street and US 41 (Tamiami Trail) and areas of Boulevard of the Arts.

The Sarasota Police Department Headquarters is also street flooding.

Officers are encouraging drivers, if you don’t have to be out driving, please stay off the roads.  As always, if you see standing water, please don’t drive through it.  Remember the saying, turn around and don’t drown.
