A registered sex offender was Tased following a scuffle with sheriff's deputies on Siesta Key on Tuesday when witnesses say he exposed himself to children.
The arrested Jason Beles, 38, 3020 Bispham Road, Unit No. 201, Sarasota, after beachgoers reported he exposed himself and acted in a lewd manner at .
Witnesses said Beles was sitting in a chair near Beach Access No. 1 on North Shell Road yesterday and masturbated while staring directly at children who were just 6 and 12 years old, according to the sheriff's office.
Beles also entered the water and stood where it was only up to his thighs and removed his shorts, according to the sheriff's office.
When deputies arrived Beles initially refused to give his correct name and date of birth, saying he was "Johh J. Smith," according to the probable cause affidavit.
He then scuffled with deputies in an attempt to avoid arrest and tried to grab his backpack that he was asked to place on the ground by the deputy, but he was Tased and was taken into custody.
Beles also attempted to kick another deputy while he was being moved to a stretcher for evaluation by the Sarasota County Fire Department, according to the affidavit. The fire department had determined that following the Taser, Beles should be examined at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, according to the affidavit.
Beles is charged with lewd and lascivious conduct, resisting arrest with violence, fiving a false name to law enforcement and violation of probation, according to the sheriff's office.
Beles was convicted in April 2010 of lewd & lascivious conduct for exposing himself to young children at a mall and sentenced to four years of supervised release.
