Shooting Injures One On Banneker Way

The 28-year-old victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is looking for a suspect involved in a Saturday night shooting that injured one in north Sarasota.

The sheriff's office responded at about 11:45 p.m. to the 2100 block of Banneker Way for a shooting where they found victim Tavarus Mays, 28, inside a home with a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff's office.

Mays was treated by Sarasota County Fire paramedics and transported to Blake Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

Mays told deputies that he was shot by a "known acquaintance" he described as a black male in this twenties and work all black clothing and the suspect fled on foot, according to the sheriff's office.

when we moved here we where told. we where moving in a good nabourhood. well i think that the realestate agent .did not tell use the hole truth. i dont like saying were i live but a am not new to this kinda thing .but we could have moved. a little better hood. if you no what i mean. so to sale you would have to not say the hood is as safe as it apears
