Shooting Injures One On Banneker Way

The 28-year-old victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is looking for a suspect involved in a Saturday night shooting that injured one in north Sarasota.

The sheriff's office responded at about 11:45 p.m. to the 2100 block of Banneker Way for a shooting where they found victim Tavarus Mays, 28, inside a home with a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff's office.

Mays was treated by Sarasota County Fire paramedics and transported to Blake Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

Mays told deputies that he was shot by a "known acquaintance" he described as a black male in this twenties and work all black clothing and the suspect fled on foot, according to the sheriff's office.
