Siesta Key Crash Victim Treated For Serious Injuries

The driver of a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis was flown by Bayflite to Blake Medical Center following a crash on Midnight Pass Road.

A driver of a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis is being treated for serious injuries following a late night crash on Siesta Key.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to Midnight Pass Road and Portofino Drive at 3:05 a.m. Friday for a single-car crash where the driver traveled southbound on Midnight Pass Road, ran over the sidewalk and shrubbery, and struck a Florida Power and Light pole with the right side of the car.

The driver, whose identity has not been released at this time, also struck a Verizon phone box, according to Highway Patrol.

The driver was flown by Bayflite to Blake Medical Center. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and it's unknown if alcohol was a factor at this time.
