SPD: Man Handcuffed and Raped 5-Year-Old Boy

A 30-year-old man was arrested Thursday for allegedly handcuffing a five-year-old boy and raping him.

Camelot Baraja-Storres, of Sarasota is charged with capital sexual battery and false imprisonment of a child under 13 years of age after he reportedly raped the boy while his mother, whom Baraja-Storres was involved with, was not home.

The crime allegedly occurred four years ago.

The boy told authorities during a forensic interview in August that he came out of the bathroom that day and Baraja-Storres grabbed him and “handcuffed him in the back.” The boy said Baraja-Storres pulled down his pants and forcefully raped him, the report shows.

After the incident occurred, the boy told his mother that Baraja-Storres had done something “really bad to him,” the report said. His mother told Baraja-Storres to stay away from him, and if he did it again she would go to the police, the report said.

The mother reportedly told the boy to say during the interview with authorities that he didn’t tell her until and couple of weeks ago because she didn’t want anyone to find out she had known for a long time.

She told detectives she and Storres had the handcuffs in the house when they were romantically involved but she had gotten rid of them when they broke up four years ago. The mother said she believes her other son was also a victim.

Baraja-Storres was taken to the Sarasota County Jail where he is being held without bond.
