Suspect Sought in Connection with Attempted ATM Robbery

A woman reported that she was almost robbed at a Bank of America ATM on Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota.

Authorities are searching for a suspect who attempted to rob a woman as she was making a deposit at a Sarasota ATM machine Wednesday evening, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim told SCSO deputies she went to the Bank of America ATM machine, 3600 Bee Ridge Road, around 9:40 p.m. She was attempting to make deposit when a male suspect approached her, a report said. The man appeared to place his hand under his hoodie like he had a handgun, and then demanded she give him the money, the report said.

The victim screamed and ran to her vehicle, the report states.

The suspect was described as a hispanic male, approximately 5 feet and 5 inches tall with black hair cut in the style of a mullet and approximately 20 years of age. He was last seen wearing a blue, black and orange hoodie. He reportedly fled the scene in what appeared to be a blue Mazda Miata with LED lights on the bottom of the vehicle, a report said.
