Top Dogs Retiring From Sarasota County Sheriff's Office

A pair of K9s known for their abilities to track and apprehend the 'bad guy' are retiring from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Department.

Two top dogs at the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office are retiring, after making contributions to the community through their crime-fighting efforts, self-discipline and loyalty.

  • K9 Titan, a German Shepherd born in Hungary, always got the bad guy. He had an apprehension rate that was triple the national average. He also provided countless narcotics "sniffs" and backup to numerous patrol deputies throughout Sarasota County and surrounding areas.
  • K9 Zuul, another German Shepherd born in Hungary, made more than 100 apprehensions and numerous narcotics "sniffs," leading to the arrest of some of Sarasota County’s worst offenders. Zuul was dispatched to more than 1,000 cases that included tracking criminals and finding missing persons.

Two new K9s are now in training with their handlers and will be introduced to the community in the coming months. Patch wishes the retiring K9 a long and happy retirement.
