'Turn Your Life Around' Gives Criminals a Second Chance

A new program in fighting crime called Turn Your Life Around, or TYLA, gives people a helping hand in an effort to change the path they are currently on.

As part of TYLA, earlier this week an undercover prostitution operation took place on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.

The Sarasota Police Department’s Street Crime Unit conducted the operation in the area of North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

This operation resulted in the arrest of five female prostitutes. The five females were all offered services by First Step, a treatment and recovery program in Sarasota. All of females accepted the services offered, were issued a summons and transported to First Step.

Lt. Pat Ledwith added, “This is part of the Sarasota Police Department’s commitment to reducing crime and the fear of crime in our community. This is our way to take a non-traditional approach to helping people turn their lives around.”
