Venice Man Injured In HIt-And-Run

A white Ford Windstar van struck a man after he was ejected from his motorcycle just seconds after a crash, and the van left the scene.

Police are searching for a beat-up white Ford Windstar van that struck a 30-year-old man in Sarasota Monday evening and left the scene.

Sarasota Police responded to South Tamiami Trial and Arlington Street at 6:30 p.m. Monday where a Yuri David Devilbiss, 30 of Venice, was ejected off of 2007 Honda motorcycle after striking a stopped vehicle at a red light, according to police.

The crash, in a southbound lane, caused Devilbiss to land in another southbound lane was was immediately hit by a van that fled the scene, according to police.

Devilbiss was flown by helicopter to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton for what's described as non life-threatening injuries, according to police. 

The van is believed to be a 1997-99 model, described as being in poor and "beat up" condition, and the driver's side tail light didn't work, witnesses told police.
