Wife Hits Husband With SUV, Flees to Mom's House, Investigators Say

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office accuses Leslie Williams of striking her husband with the SUV and then driving over him as she fled the scene.

A 45-year-old Sarasota woman faces a charge of vehicular homicide, after investigators say she struck her husband with the couple's Yukon Denali and drove over him as she fled the scene to her mother's house.

Leslie Williams was arrested Wednesday in connection to the hit-and-run death of 48-year-old Christopher Williams.

According to witnesses, Leslie and Christopher were arguing inside their home on Oakford Road and then moved outside, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Leslie got into her 2006 GMC Yukon Denali, and Christopher walked toward the gate at the end of the driveway. Investigators say that Leslie put the Yukon in drive and struck the victim with the front of the vehicle.

The impact knocked Christopher into the gate. Leslie continued driving, running over Christopher as she fled the scene, investigators say.

Just after midnight, the couple’s son called 911, requesting an ambulance for his father, who was lying in the driveway and not breathing. Deputies also responded and found 48-year-old Christopher Williams deceased.

Deputies found Leslie and the vehicle at her mother’s home. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Leslie Williams and she turned herself in Wednesday, June 5.

She is charged with Vehicular Homicide and Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Death.

Williams was booked into the Sarasota County Jail, where she is being held without bond.
