Woman Accused of Trying to Back Over Couple with Car

A Sarasota woman was arrested after she allegedly tried to back over two people with her car, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Tracy Lynette Spann, 35, 1600 block of 21st Street, Sarasota, is charged with aggravated assault with a vehicle after she attempted to back her blue Pontiac over a woman and her boyfriend as the left their apartment, a report said.

The victim told deputies that Spann waited until she and her boyfriend were directly behind the car before she accelerated in reverse, causing the victim to dart out of the way to avoid being hit, the report stated. Spann then drove her car through a couple of back yards and fled the area.

Spann is being held in the Sarasota County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
