UPDATE: Mother and Child Deceased in Apparent Murder Suicide
Detectives believe the 35-year-old woman shot her 17-month-old daughter, then turned the gun on herself Sunday morning, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
UPDATE: Authorities are investigating a murder-suicide that occurred on 4000 block of Old Bradenton Road, Sarasota involving a mother and her 17-month-old daughter, according to the Sarasota Police Department.
At approximately 9:45am Sunday, the child's father returned home from a scooter ride and heard shots fired and called 911, a report said.
Detectives believe the mother, Sarah Harnish, 35, shot the toddler, Josephine Boice, and then turned the gun on herself.
Both the mother and child were pronounced deceased.
ORIGINAL: Authorities are investigating a death and shooting involving a mother and toddler that occurred on the 4000 block of Old Bradenton Road in Sarasota around 9:30 a.m.
The mother has been pronounced deceased and the 10-month-old child is in unknown condition at this time.
