Back To School: Osprey Avenue Remains Partially Closed

Osprey Avenue continues to be partially closed and is only open to local traffic.

If you making using Osprey Avenue a part of your school route routine, you'll still have to navigate detours this fall.

The City of Sarasota is reminding folks headed back to school on Monday that northbound Osprey Avenue from Bahia Vista Street to Mound Street remains closed to build a new lift station and sewer collection system. The city estimates that the road will reopen in mid-December.

Osprey Avenue is open to local traffic only, according to the city.

City staff says that the project has been delayed due to technical issues encountered in the execution of the microtunneling work required to install the new 36-inch gravity sewer system. The City is working with the contractor, the design consultant, and an impartial microtunneling consultant to address and resolve the issues associated with the microtunneling component of the project.
