Don’t tread on this guy! A Tampa Bay man is in dispute with his town over painting his home in the colors of the American flag.

Brent Greer is your everyday American man: great beard, wife, nine children and owner of “Turfinator Lawn Specialist,” according to Florida corporate records.

The “Turfinator” received a code enforcement complaint in February about a Christmas tree left on his front stoop, Bay News 9 reported. Greer promptly removed the tree to avoid a fine.

But that wasn’t the end of it.

The city sent him notice of several more violations, and he had had enough of big government intervention. Greer, his wife Catherine and those nine kids — seven of them adopted — painted the house the colors of the American flag.

“He says that the soffits are not painted to the city standard, and I’m like, ‘well, there’s a thing called the Constitution,’” Greer told The Bradenton Herald.

Although the Riverview Boulevard neighbors who reported him had a problem with his home, one neighbor in particular takes Greer’s side.

“I admire his patriotism and, in my opinion, I see nothing wrong with how the house has been painted,” neighbor Chris Grumley told Patch via Twitter.

Greer is expected to stand before Bradenton’s code enforcement board at its monthly meeting, scheduled for June 17.

bless this house is in a "gated community" Deed restricted, he can paint his house whatever color he wants just like all the people who have painted their homes, purple, orange, periwinkle, hot pink (flamingo pink) with the plastic flamingos in the front yard! As said so "eloquently" by the Hillary and Reid... "What difference does it make?"

you must have community standards to maintain housing values....how about if he painted it pure black, or with words on it? i admire his patriotism, but take it to some other avenue of expression. just my opinion. thanks.

Ok look. I get the whole "constitution" thing but really? You are going to waste money on paint, lawyers, fines and missed income fighting this when you have 9 children? Couldn't it be put to better use feeding those kids rather than feeding your need to buck the system?

This house is very tastefully painted! If the neighbors don't like it-they are Free to move-thanks to the red, white and blue and the men and women that served to protect this right!! I find it awfully intriguing that IBMom is privy to the knowledge his kids are hungry???........or was that just an ignorant rhetorical reply??

Certainly not my cup of tea. That being said, the quality seems good. I would be proud to have that house on my block. Leave the nice man alone!
