Update: Water Back On For Gulf Gate Businesses

Sixty-six businesses in Gulf Gate are experiencing water service interruptions due to a water main break.

Update: Water service in Gulf Gate has been restored.

Earlier: As many as 66 Gulf Gate businesses are experiencing loss or interruption of water this afternoon due to a water main break on Gateway Avenue. 

Sarasota County Utilities is repairing the water main break that affects 66 businesses on Gateway Avenue and the west side of Superior Avenue between Gulf Gate Drive and Mall Drive. Officials expect water service to be interrupted for two to four hours.

Sarasota County Utilities notified the businesses of precautionary boil water advisory. 

Although the county has no reason to believe the drinking water was contaminated, Florida law requires drinking water providers to issue precautionary boil water advisories to customers affected by pressure losses in water mains.
