Payne Park Restrooms Vandalized

Toilets were destroyed in both the men's and women's restrooms along and police hope you can tell them who did it.

restrooms are closed through October due to extensive damage from vandalism this week.

The damaged restrooms, located at the Skate Park, were discovered Wednesday after water was leaking out of the restrooms, according to Sarasota Police, causing more than $1,000 in damage.

Police believe the vandalism occurred between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday.

In the women's bathroom two toilets had been smashed and the debris thrown around, according to police.  Paper towel rolls were pulled from the walls and a wastebasket appeared to have been kicked in.  

In the men's bathroom, the urinal was pulled from the wall and the toilet smashed, according to police.  Toilet paper rolls were pulled from the wall.

 A drinking fountain outside of the restrooms was dented, causing water to continuously flow.

Repairs are expected to be completed by Oct. 1, police said.

Because the damage is more than $1,000, the charges will be filed as a felony, according to police. 

Police are reviewing security videos for possible evidence, but in the meantime, they're asking you to call 941-954-7025 if you know who vandalized the restrooms.
