Sarasota Democrats' May 5 Caucus is Campaign Kickoff

Join Sarasota Democrats May 5 at a caucus to begin electing delegates to the National Democratic Convention in September. Lots of fun, food, training, yard signs and bumperstickers.

Florida is one of a few swing states that are expected to determine the outcome of the 2012 presidential election – and Sarasota County is a bellwether for which way Florida goes.

Sarasota County Democrats are energized, so come participate this Saturday, May 5th in our Democratic Caucus and Day of Action, as we kick off the campaign season.

Stop in at party Headquarters in the Coral Cove Mall, 7358 S. Tamiami Trail any time from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet fellow Democrats, get involved, and help rally support for President Obama. Whether you’ve volunteered in the past or are brand new to the party, we urge you to join us on Saturday, May 5.

This is the first time Florida Democrats are having caucuses in counties across the state to put President Obama on the ballot, and to begin the selection of delegates to the Democratic National Convention to be held in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In addition to voting, you should plan to have some fun. This is a great opportunity to get to know your local party, meet other Democrats in an informal setting, have a bite to eat, take advantage of our communications training, pick up your Obama yard signs and bumper stickers, sign up for email alerts, and even volunteer to help elect Democrats here in Sarasota County!

And if you live outside Sarasota County, don’t worry. Democrats will be gathering in their county caucuses in every county in Florida on Saturday May 5. If you are a Democrat, put on your red, white and blue, grab your Democratic neighbors and join in the action! Check here (http://ofa.bo/fdp ) to find your county’s caucus.
