Concerts by a Beatles tribute band organized by the sister of George Harrison at Manatee, Sarasota and North Port high schools are canceled due to a health concern.
Band member Marty Scott, who plays George Harrison in the band, announced the cancelation Wednesday morning via email:
"I'm sorry to announce that due to a serious health issue, we are forced to cancel all of our performances in Florida next week," he said. "We are sorry for any inconvenience and we hope to come back again at another time."
The Bradenton performance was scheduled for Manatee High on Oct. 3 and Sarasota performance was scheduled Saturday, Oct. 6 at Booker High School. North Port was scheduled for Oct. 4.
Sarasota resident Louise Harrison, this fall to help integrate arts education into classrooms.
The concerts were organized through Harrison's non-profit Help Keep Music Alive and were designed to raise money for high school music funds.
