Students from Alta Vista Elementary School took a field trip to Mote Aquaculture Research Park for an education fishing experience.

A group of 75 fifth graders from Alta Vista Elementary attended an educational workshop at the sustainable fish farm at Mote Aquaculture Research Park on Thursday.

The students took part in a variety of hands-on activities that taught them about fish biology, marine conservation, responsible fishing practices, knot tying, and Gyotaku, the Japanese art of fish printing.

After the field trip, the students were presented with gift packages, each of which contained a fishing rod from Dick's Sporting Goods, a coupon for a free goldfish from Petsmart, and other assorted goodies.
