Sarasota Teacher Gets $5,000 On Ellen

Daphne Lewis appeared on Ellen DeGeneres's popular 12 Days of Giveaways.

A Sarasota teacher received quite the surprise Tuesday during an appearance on The Ellen Show.

Daphne Lewis of Sarasota, a fourth-grade teacher, appeared on Ellen DeGeneres's talk show during Day 7 of Ellen's popular 12 Days of Giveaways where a video from her sisters, Monica and Valerie Lewis played where they nominated their sister Daphne to get some sort of break from Ellen.

It turned out to be $5,000 plus a bunch of giveaways from the 12 Days of Giveaways.

Ellen brought Daphne down from the audience to give her $5,000 where Daphne figured there was something bigger as they looked for her sister.

"I watch your show everyday, and I'm sorry, and they mentioned my car so I'm just kind of like looking for — maybe there's something," Daphne Lewis said.

"We don't have a car for you," Ellen said.

"It's a minivan!" Daphne guessed, continuing to guess a scooter, a trip, and an iPad before it appears Daphne was in on the set-up to help surprise the audience for Ellen's 12 Days of Giveaways.

The audience received:

  • Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush valued at $250
  • PlayStation 3 with game Wonderbook Book of Spells game and PS Move controllers
  • $300 one-year subscription to Rosetta Stone
  • Dyson vacuum
  • Apple TV
  • One-year subscription to Hulu Plus
  • Insignia 42-inch 1080p 120Hz HDTV
