School Bus Involved in Fender Bender

No one was injured in the Tuesday morning crash.

A 52-year-old Sarasota man is facing a careless driving charge Tuesday morning after crashing into a school bus.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to Beneva Road and Parkland Avenue at 7:35 a.m. for the fender bender where a 2006 Thomas school bus driven by Patricia Callander, 58, of Osprey, stopped at the Beneva Road railroad crossing near Parkland Avenue, and activated her red flashing lights.

At that time, a 1999 Dodge Ram driven by Lee L. Miller of Sarasota approached the bus's rear, attempted to swerve out of the way to avoid collision but hit the right rear side of the bus, according to Highway Patrol.
