Student Public Service Announcement Warns of Prescription Drug Abuse

The television ad was created by students in the Pine View School television production class.

A student-made public service announcement about the dangers of prescription drug abuse will start airing on local television today.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office conducted a contest with Pine View television production students to create a PSA and the winning 30-second spot was created by 11th graders Wesley Back and Max Klauber.

“Prescription and over-the-counter drugs are among the most commonly abused drugs by teens, so we wanted to see how students would reach out to peers with this lifesaving message,” said Sheriff Tom Knight. “As the entries showed, we have some real talent in this community, so we hope to expand the competition next year.”
